MECC Resources
A MECC conversation is a Very Brief Intervention (VBI) designed to give people information to inspire positive change, and/or support them where to go for further help.Â
Based on this definition, there are a range of resources available to enable people to champion MECC and have an effective MECC conversation. See below further information for MECC resources available within local areas throughout the region.
MECC Training Resources in the Thames Valley
All digital resources and information for delivering MECC training sessions can be found on the Making Every Contact Count in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Knowledge hub, which can be accessed by MECC trainers after completing a Train the Trainer course within the Thames Valley.
The Knowledge hub provides all slides, handouts, certificates and information needed to deliver a MECC training, engagement or awareness session.
Oxfordshire
Resources to support Making Every Contact Count in Oxfordshire include:
- MECC badges (e.g. for lanyards)
- Pocket size MECC Z-cards which give a high-level overview of MECC and how to have a MECC conversation
- Live Well Oxfordshire Service Directory (this is essentially a hard copy of the Live Well website)
- Live Well Oxfordshire Bookmarks to help promote the Live Well directory

Oxfordshire MECC Partnership
The Oxfordshire MECC Partnership is a collaborative strategic group with representatives from organisations across the county providing collaborative and positive leadership for the development of MECC in Oxfordshire.
The partnership aims to raise the strategic profile and systematic implementation of MECC by working collaboratively and connecting with other delivery and implementation groups. This provides collective support within the area to fully utilise the millions of day-to-day interactions that people have with others to support them to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing.
The group meets once every 8 weeks for an hour on MS Teams. If you’d like to join, please contact MECC@oxfordshire.gov.uk.
Buckinghamshire
Resources to support Making Every Contact Count in Buckinghamshire include:
- Our newly developed MECC landing page, where you can find information on MECC, training available, and support services in Buckinghamshire: Making Every Contact Count MECC
- MECC badges (e.g. for lanyards)
- Access to the Joy App, designed as a social prescribing tool which connects people with local services, support groups and community activities to enhance your wellbeing.
